Lighthouse Women’s Centre
Lighthouse Women’s Aid offers support to you on Domestic Abuse.
Our Ipswich based Women’s Centre is focused on helping women affected by domestic abuse from across Suffolk, either currently or in the past.
We offer advice appointments for women who are, or have been in abusive relationships to ensure you have the best possible support with the situation that you are in. From these appointments, we ensure that you link in with the support you need, for example, further domestic abuse support, legal advice, housing advice, money advice, or support around child contact. The appointments can be either face to face or over the phone.
We offer a range of courses for women, for example, The Freedom Programme and Power To Change, as well as for young people and children who have been affected by domestic abuse, these can be accessed via our timetable, again these are either face to face or virtual it is your choice. Referrals for all our courses can be made by either the women or professionals involved in their support. We also offer regular coffee mornings at our Centre, a chance for you to meet other people and give your input into what we do.

We take safeguarding you and your children very seriously and work closely with other agencies to do this. We want you to be able to speak freely and share information and we will always explain how we safeguard you and how we share information if we are concerned.

When you first contact Lighthouse we want to make sure that you get the service that you want and need. Part of this is offering Advice appointments. These are appointments for you to discuss the abuse that you have either previously experienced or are currently experiencing. If you are currently experiencing abuse then we will discuss with you completing a Domestic Abuse Stalking and Harassment risk assessment, from this we can look at the best ways of supporting you, whether this is within Lighthouse or other agencies. If abuse is historic this is an opporutnity to explore what you have experienced and addtional support that is out there for you. The Advice appointment can also be the gateway to some of the other services that we offer, for example, child contact can have a big impact and we have dedicated sessions where child contact can be explored, we also have access to ½ hour free legal appointments, or sign post for money and housing advice. We will also explore further support around Domestic Abuse and we offer a whole range of therapeutic programmes around Domestic Abuse, for example, Freedom Programme or Power to Change. These are free of charge and how to get onto these will be explored through the appointment.
