Volunteering with Lighthouse

It’s our volunteers who make many of our services possible. Without their invaluable support, we couldn’t do what we do. Would you like to join the team, and help make a real difference to people in crisis?

You’ll meet like-minded people, develop professional skills, and build self-confidence. Oh, and you’ll also get a real sense of pride from knowing you’re helping others. Whether you’re sorting through donations, looking after a stall at a fundraiser, or supporting our specialist staff members, your support will make a huge difference to us, and those we support.

Could you be a fundraising volunteer?

We are looking for somone to work alongside our fundraising team to help develop community fundraising, build further relationships witht he local community and be proactive in regards to fundraising initiatives.

The role will involve representing and promtoing Lighthouse in a variety of settings, therefore a strong empathy with the ethos of the Organisation and the issues facing women, young people and children affected by domestic abuse is essential.

All of our volunteer roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check.

The closing date for applications is Tuesday 19th March 2024,

with interviews being held on Thursday 28th March.

Donations Volunteer - Post Filled

This role involves sorting the donations of new & pre-loved items, toiletries and food that are generously given by supporters of Lighthouse, ensuring they reach the women and children that need them.

It can also include using internet sites to sell items and organsing thank you letters to be sent.

Centre Drop-In & Admin Support Volunteer - Post Filled.

“Empower Me” is an opportunity for our clients to drop in, take part in an activity and chat with other clients that have experienced Domestic Abuse.

The volunteer role will involve setting a welcoming environment, talking to clients and assisting with the activities.

If you have experience assisting with adult groups, would like to spend a few fun hours supporting these sessions and also helping with admin support, please do get in touch.

You will be required Mondays from 9:30am – 1:30pm.

Office & Admin Volunteer - Post Filled

You will be working as part of the team in our busy office at the Community Women’s Centre – welcoming visitors, taking calls, arranging courses, updating the database, and other general admin duties.

Therapeutic Course Admin Volunteer - Post Filled

You will be working as part of our course delivery team in our Community Women’s Centre – preparing course resources, arranging courses, maintaining a waiting list, booking clients onto courses, updating the database, and other general admin duties.
