Empowering People in Norfolk & Suffolk

Raise money for three local charities that empower survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse.

 

Leeway Logo

 

Since 1974 Leeway have provided support to empower those affected by domestic violence in Norfolk and Suffolk. Over the past four decades the charity has grown from those humble beginnings and we now have eight safe houses and a team of more than 50 people providing advice, support and information to any adult or child experiencing domestic abuse in Norfolk and Suffolk.

Lighthouse Women’s Aid Logo

 

Lighthouse Women’s Aid is a charitable organisation based in Suffolk, UK providing emotional support to women, young people and children experiencing domestic abuse in their personal or family relationships.

 

Fresh Start Logo

Fresh Start New Beginnings works through Suffolk and Norfolk, and was set up to provide a therapeutic service for children and young people up to 18 years who have reported being sexually abused and to offer support for their families.

How do I sign up?

Sign up at this link. Entry is £5 per adult, £3 per child (under 12’s), a Family ticket is £12 (2 adults and up to 3 children) or a team ticket is £45 (up to 10 adults). Once you have signed up you will be asked to create a fundraising page on Virgin Money Giving.

Who can take part?

Anyone can take part! Wherever you are, walk run or cycle throughout December to raise money for our charities. You can sign up as an individual, with your family members or friends. Please continue to follow your local covid-restrictions and sign up with your household or support bubble, and follow social distancing rules at your local park or outdoor space.

Are you asking me to run to the North Pole?

No! We aim to collectively run, walk or cycle 2622 miles - the distance from Ipswich to the North Pole. The more people who sign up, the more distance we cover and the more money we raise!

How do I track my distance?

You can track your distance using Strava or your FitBit. Strava is an app for your Apple or Android smartphone, once you have set up a fundraising page on Virgin Money Giving you can connect the app to your page and it will automatically track your distance.

If you don’t have a smartphone, or don’t want to connect your app, you can manually log your distance on your fundraising page. We have pdf sponsorship forms that you can download and print at home for offline donations, please click here to download.

Is this a Covid safe event?

Anyone can take part in this challenge safely and follow all local restrictions. If you are signing up with family or friends, please continue to follow household and support bubble rules. Follow social distancing rules at your local park or outdoor space, and wear a mask when appropriate.

Which charities does this support?

Leeway are partnering with Lighthouse Women’s Aid and Fresh Start New Beginnings.

The money raised will be shared between the charities.
